THE TRUTH ON TAPE

// Real footage. Real operations. 2013–2014 Afghanistan.

NOT THE
MYTH.
THE TRUTH.

For twenty years, every portrayal of Special Forces on screen has been sanitized. Hero-worshipped. Politicized. The Bushmen is the corrective — built on nine combat deployments of lived experience, told with the brutal honesty the subject demands.

Jason Green — 36D1 SF Medic — moves across three ODAs during a single 2013–2014 deployment cycle. Each team is a distinct world. Each mission leaves a mark. The chaos, the boredom, the violence, the laughter, the grief — and the brotherhood that makes survival possible.

"Generation Kill meets The Bear — unsanitized military realism, intimate character drama, dark humor, and the emotional cost of brotherhood."
Brutal Authenticity

Objective camera. No score during contact. The truth of what it actually looks like.

Dark Humor

Gallows humor as survival mechanism. The absurdity is real. So is the laughter.

Intimate Character

Seven men on a team. You know every one of them before the first shot is fired.

Emotional Cost

What goes downrange stays downrange. What comes home is a different problem.

2013–2014
AFGHAN-
ISTAN

Thirteen episodes. One deployment. The season opens with a green-on-blue attack at VSO Jalrez — objective camera, no score, just the truth — and ends with Jason on a HLZ at Bagram, coming home. What happens in between is the show.

Jason moves across ODA 3336 ("Knucks & Chucks"), 3335 ("Necessary Evil"), and 3334 ("Death Machine MC") — the connective tissue of three very different worlds. Episode 8: he is shot in the head. The visual grammar fractures with him. Episodes 9–13 are not recovery. They are reckoning.

Every episode ends with an Every Time I Die track. Music is POV — never omniscient.

THREE ODAS.

THE TRUTH.

J.H.
CALDER

pen name of Jason A. Green

I served nine combat deployments as a Special Forces medic. I've carried men off the battlefield, held their hands while they died, laughed with them around burn barrels. For years, every portrayal of Special Forces on screen felt wrong. Sanitized. Hero-worshipped. Politicized. I never saw my team. I never saw the truth.

My wife Lindsey is a combat veteran and former medic. She survived an IED blast that killed everyone else in her vehicle. Beat cancer. She is the emotional spine of this series. I'm not interested in propaganda or politics. I'm interested in the men I served with — their stories, their laughter, their pain, their ghosts.
